Liên Sơn Parish Project

Liên Sơn Parish is a rural community in Vietnam serving approximately 4,000 people, including both Catholic and non-Catholic families. The parish includes Liên Sơn 1, where many families are Kinh, and Liên Sơn 2, where many families are from the Raglai ethnic minority community.

Many families in Liên Sơn 2 face significant hardship, including unstable housing, limited income, and lack of basic sanitation. Some children also experience food insecurity, making regular meals an important part of supporting their health, learning, and participation in community life.

Since arriving at Liên Sơn Parish in 2025, Father Duy Nguyen has been working to respond to these needs. He currently helps provide weekly meals for approximately 300 students and monthly food assistance for around 60 elderly, sick, and vulnerable families. Much of this support has been funded from his own personal resources.

The Liên Sơn Parish Project is VSV’s long-term effort to support this community through food assistance, sanitation, housing support, and the development of a central gathering space for children, families, and parish activities.

Our Approach

We begin with what is already there: a small piece of land where a Marian statue stands and where the community can gather. From this starting point, we hope to build step by step — beginning with urgent needs and gradually developing a safe, stable space for community life.

This project is not about rapid expansion. It is about sustainable, meaningful progress.

Project Goals

1. Community Land and Gathering Space

VSV hopes to help secure and prepare 670 m² of land to create a central gathering space for parish activities, children’s programs, and future community development.

Estimated costs include:

• Purchase of land

• Land preparation and leveling

Estimated subtotal: $47,900

2. Sanitation Support

Many families currently live without access to basic toilets. VSV hopes to support the construction of 10 toilets for families in urgent need.

Estimated cost: $6,000

This support directly improves health, dignity, and daily living conditions.

3. Monthly Support for Vulnerable Families

Each month, approximately 60 elderly, sick, and vulnerable families receive food and essential supplies.

4. Weekly Meals for Children

Each Sunday, approximately 300 students receive meals through the parish program.
